 Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has started renting out it’s Wakamu robots shown on your left. The yellow robot acts a receptionist and sports an impressive 10,000 word vocabulary. Also noted is that the robot will never call in sick. The robot rents for 120,00 yen or $1,000 a day. The body looks kind of cool, but the face needs some work. It looks too much like an insect or bug. See article here.
Update - Tokyo Times has more pictures of the receptionist robot. Link. Up next is MDARS (Mobile Detection Assessment Response System). This 3,500 pund robot will be used by the military as a security guard. It can travel at around 20 MPH while avoiding obstacles and sending back radar and infrared pictures to a control station.
