Grand Challenge Contest

The Grand Challenge is a contest sponsored by the British Ministry of Defence.
The challenges purpose is, ” is to create a system with a high degree of autonomy that can detect, identify, monitor and report a comprehensive range of military threats in an urban environment”.
Basically, they want robots that can identify and take out the enemy. I think the hardest part of this will be identifying who is the enemy. So far they have accepted 23 applications for the contest scheduled for August 2008. Judges are funding 6 of the teams, while 8 more are competing with their own funds.
