RiSE Wall Climbing Robot

Friday, August 10th, 2007

RiSERiSE by Boston Dynamics is a wall climbing robot with 6 legs. Each leg is powered by two motors. The robot is .25 m long, weighs 2 kg and travels .3 m per second.

In the video it seems to move fairly slowly. I bet it would lose in a race against VMRP, the robot that uses vortex or “tornado in a cup” technology. But this robot has a bendable body and therefore can transition from climbing a wall to walking on a rooftop.

This robot is funded by DARPA. Click the link for the video .
