MDS The MIT Social Robot
Tuesday, September 25th, 2007
When the folks at MIT aren’t getting into trouble at the airport for hoax devices, they are busy creating robots like this one.
The MDS (Mobile/Dexterous/Social) robot is a joint effort between Xitome Design, UMASS Amherst and the Personal Robotics Group at MIT.
The robot will be roughly the size of a 3 year old child and will be used to study human - robot interaction. The goal is to create a robot that can learn what matters most to us humans.
They are developing a team of 4 robots to be completed sometime this fall.
