Eye-bot

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

EyebotThe Swarmanoid project is developing an eye-bot. The eye-bot is a quadrotor robot that features sonar and differential pressure sensors to determine its altitude and a magnetometer to get its heading.

The robot also includes a 360 degree camera, obstacle detection and a scanner.

The CPU is based on the one used in the foot-bot. The Swarmanoid group have also created a hand-bot. What’s next a belly-bot?

Guitar RobotSorry, no guitar wielding Terminator here, although the guitar is often referred to as an axe.

But there is a robot called Guitar Heronoid that will play Guitar Hero for you.

Gibson announces the launch of their Guitar Robot. Billed as the world’s first guitar with robotic technology, this guitar is self tuning.

The ice blue sunburst pattern shown here is only available as a limited edition. They are taking pre orders for when the guitar becomes available on 12/7/07.

Each store will only carry 10 of these bad boys, so hurry up and order now!

3,000 Robots in the Ocean

Monday, November 12th, 2007

ArgoThe Argo project has apexreached a milestone of 3,000 robots. These robots monitor ocean temperatures and salinity.

The cylindrical robot descends to a depth of 2,000 meters and drifts with the current for 9 days. the robot then rises to the surface, while gathering data. Once at the surface it transmits the data via satellite to weather centers.

The robot then descends to 2,00 meters again and repeats the process. The robots have been deployed in all of the major oceans. How they avoid surfacing into or damaging boats we are not sure, but next time you are swimming in the ocean, watch out for the robots.

Many countries such as France, China, Norway and the United States participate in this program.

Robot Galaxy Opens

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

PangoA new kind of store called Robot Galaxy has just opened 2 locations in the New York city area. In the store you can build your own robot. Pictured here is the robot Pango. The store offers 5 different models based on the comic called The Brotherhood.

The basic premise of the store is to make it more of an interactive experience rather than just buying something. Prices range form $27 to $70 depending on how many accessories you pick.

While these robots seem great for young kids, they are a bit dorky looking. Have any of our readers been to one of these stores yet?
