Led Zeppelin

Jacobs University in Germany started it’s robotics program in 2001. The robotics team has participated in several Robocups, including the 2007 Robocup held in Atlanta. The 2008 Robocup is being held in China.

Pictured here is the The 2006 SAUC-E team and the AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) robot Lead Zeppelin. Did they mean Led Zeppelin?

Some highlights of the UAV include:

  1. Pitch & roll sensors
  2. An echo sounder
  3. Scanning sonar head
  4. 2 camerasRugbot
  5. Propulsion thrusters

Another robot from Jacobs University pictured here is called the Rugbot. This little bad boy can climb stairs thanks to a special flippers.

It can also make maps from it’s many sensors and work in multi robot teams to form one large map. The mapping research is designed to aid in rescue missions.

Way to go Jacobs University.  Nice robots!
