Former Talking Heads front man David Byrne has teamed up with David Hanson of Hanson Robotics to create Julio. Julio is a robotic crooner that uses David Byrne’s voice.
David Byrne is interested in exploring the uncanny valley. This is the idea that the more realistic and lifelike a humanoid robot is, the more creepy it seems to us.
Julio is being displayed at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid this summer. Watch Julio in action here.
Hanson Robotics have previously created Zeno, as well as a robotic Einstein.
