Wany Robotics Announces Two New Models

Monday, September 1st, 2008

French start-up Wany Robotics has announced 2 new models based on its Pekee mobile platform.

You can now buy either the Advanced package or the Ultimate package.  Both robots have:

  • 2 powerful 12V DC motors
  • 2 highly accurate odometers
(255 560 tops per wheel cycle)
  • 360° bumpers
  • 12V 7A/h NiMh battery
  • Light and temperature sensors

The models also include an infrared telemetry module with 16  sensors that support distance measurement and obstacle avoidance.  They can also run Linux or Windows on the embedded PC.

The Advanced model sports 512M RAM and Wifi, while the Ultimate version has a 20G hard drive, Wifi, Bluetooth and GPS.  The Ultimate version also has laser and ultrasound modules included.

The Advanced robot is 5,499€ and the Ultimate model is 12,299€.  Way too pricey for us, but probably great robots if you are part of a research team or university.  Also, a robot with a laser could be a good or bad thing depending on your viewpoint.
