ckBot Reassembles Itself
By admin. Filed in Robot News |Tags: Research
Associate Professor Mark Yim from the University of Pennsylvania’s Modular Robotics Lab has created the modular ckBot.
The modular robot is made up of blocks and can reassemble itself if taken apart. The basic idea is if some accident or explosion ocurred, what type of system or robot could put itself back together. In the amazing video below from Wired’s upcoming Nextfest, Associate Professor Yim explains how the ckBot works.
See another very funny video of the robot called yim kick.
Nextfest by Wired starts Friday 9/26 in the Chicago area.

Hi All!
Isn’t this an absolutely fascinating area of robotics I just attended IROS 2008 and the preceding workshop and it was so much fun I am already looking forward to IROS and ICRA 2009 and other conferences (got any tips?)
If you are Interested in reading more on the field I can suggest you check out the resource section on my blog, the blog is brand new so there is not much there yet but there are at least a few links that could be useful, if anybody has any tips on other resources I would rely appreciate it.
All My best
