Brain Controlled Wheelchair
By Chief Robot. Filed in Research, Robot News, Science |
Students at the University of Southern Florida have developed a wheel chair controlled by your brain.
The so called Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) captures your thoughts and turns them into movements by the wheelchair, or into actions performed by the attached robotic arm. Also included is the ability to use a virtual keyboard and type, just by thinking about it.
This wheelchair is designed to assist people who have Lou Gehrig’s Disease or other people who cannot move for various reasons.
This seems like a great idea, but I dunno about wearing that funny cap.
