Chalkbot Runs Into Red Tape

We previously posted here about the Chalkbot leaving messages with chalk at the Tour De France.
According to the Post Gazette from Pittsburgh, the little bot that could has run into some red tape.
First, Chalkbot staff have to check every message for profanity and then pass them on to a Tour de France staff person who must also approve the message as well. It gets even better. The Post Gazette states:
Additionally, in order to paint the messages on the pavement, Equipe Chalkbot must get permission at every stop from both local Tour de France officials and the mayors of each city on the route. It is a process made more difficult by the fact that no one on the Chalkbot crew speaks French.
That’s right, they need permission from the mayor of every city before they can paint the message. Also no one from the Chalkbot team speaks French. Uh – hello?
