Garage Guarding Robot

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

88Ok, so it’s not a real robot.

Summer.  Hot, lazy and humid.  Who wants to scrape and then paint their ugly garage door?  Not me.

Just measure your garage door and order up one of these babies.  These photo tarps come with Velcro tape for easy installation.

At only  169 € or about $239, it is a bargain compared to the hours of hot sweaty work to paint the door.

Order one from Style-Your-Garage.com.

Cybraphon A Unique Robotic Musician

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

11763_cybraphon_completeCybraphon is completely different from other robotic bands like The Trons.  Cybraphon is more of a musical curiosity cabinet with feelings.

Three artists from the UK got together to create Cybraphon.  It took them over 6 months to create this amazing musical cabinet.  Cybraphon contains a Shruti box, chimes, cymbals, a record player as well as other percussion instruments.

The robot is of course connected to the internet and can monitor its own popularity on Facebook and other websites.  It then adjusts the music it makes according to its mood based on popularity.

Slobots

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

MikeSlobot+Stitch+MINDstyle+626project+09Slobots are cool robot sculptures made from everyday materials by M. Heisler.

Not very far into the future, robots existed in many facets of everyday life… As the demand for new technology raced on, many of the earliest robots found themselves without homes or jobs or families.

They began to search for new meaning in their lives, in many parts of the galaxy, and even into the farthest reaches of the universe… Welcome to the world of “The Slobots™!!”

Shown here is the latest model, a custom piece for the Stitch Experiment 626 project.  Our favorite though has to be Slobart, modeled after Bart Simpson.

Some of the cool bots are for sale.

Chalkbot Runs Into Red Tape

Friday, July 17th, 2009

ChalkbotWe previously posted here about the Chalkbot leaving messages with chalk at the Tour De France.

According to the Post Gazette from Pittsburgh, the little bot that could has run into some red tape.

First, Chalkbot staff have to check every message for profanity and then pass them on to a Tour de France staff person who must also approve the message as well.  It gets even better.  The Post Gazette states:

Additionally, in order to paint the messages on the pavement, Equipe Chalkbot must get permission at every stop from both local Tour de France officials and the mayors of each city on the route. It is a process made more difficult by the fact that no one on the Chalkbot crew speaks French.

The Chalkbot is backed up about 5,000 messages by now.  Wow.  Better get your  message in now before it’s too late.
