The iRobot Roomba has now gone all cute with Hello Kitty edition being available on 9/30/08. Only a limited edition of 500 will be produced at a price of about $810 or 84,500 yen.
The Hello Kitty edition will be available at the iRobot Japan website.

The Rovio Spy Robot by WowWee Robotics is on sale at Hammacher Schlemmer for $299.95 and is expected to ship on 9/26.
The Wi-Fi enabled robot can be controlled via the web. Using high resolution video streamed in MPEG 4 format, you can watch your house over the web. The robot also a 2 way microphone to enable real time conversations telling the unwanted robbers to get out of your house.

iRobot has announced 2 new pet models in its lineup of floor cleaning Roombas. The 562 Pet Series Vacuum Cleaning Robot goes for $399 and the 532 Pet Series Vacuum Cleaning Robot goes for $349.
In other iRobot news, founder Rodney Brooks has decided to move on. He founded iRobot in 1990 with Colin Angle and Helen Greiner and has helped create a new industry with household robots like the Roomba.
Brooks will be working at a new company called Heartland Robotics. The Boston Globe reports Heartland Robotics will help
American workers be more productive through the use of robots.

Ah, it’s that time of year again. The warm sunshine and the smell of freshly cut grass. If only you didn’t always have to cut the grass. Here comes Automower by Husqvarna to the rescue.
The Automower goes for around $2000 pounds and comes with a docking station as the solar power is only meant as a supplement. Supposedly you save about 1/4 of your electricity by having the solar panel. Recharging the battery while docked takes 1 1/2 to 2 1/12 hours.
Automower also requires the installation of a perimeter wire to set mowing boundries.
