Bubby the robot was enjoying his stay as a decoration on Teresa McDade’s lawn.

She had purchased Bubby online for $700 and recently moved him to her lawn.  Her five year old son Tareece had named the robot and thought of Bubby as a friend.

This robot was originally  called Safety Sam and made by a company called Robotronics.  This company also makes the official robot version of McGruff The Crime Dog.

Bubby was stolen from her lawn on Tuesday, June 16, but returned to her neighbors driveway on Thursday, June 18. Bubby seems to be ok, despite being returned with a bag over his head and a few scratches.

We are happy the robot was returned and hope Bubby is ok.

But the question we put to you reader is, why would anyone leave a $700 robot on their lawn as a decoration?

Check out Safety Sam at work on Ellis Island after the break.

Another Robo Mower

By Chief Robot | Filed in Household, Robot News

lb1200-1Lawnbott is a robotic mower that needs no perimeter wire.  The robotic mower users moisture sensors and bumper sensors to detect where it is.

It was introduced to the US and Canada last year and was expected to be introduced to Europe this year with a smaller version.

The US version weighs 18 lbs and has an 8 1/2 inch cutting blade.  Using a lithium ion battery it will run for about 4 hours on a single charge.  It currently sells for roughly $1399.

baby-carriageIntroducing Bomo, the world first indoor Robot Baby Carriage.

The carriage can be put on automatic mode, giving the tiny tot a ride around your room without bumping into any pesky chairs or tables while it follows mom.

Older tots can actually steer the carriage and still won’t bump into anything thanks to sensors.

Bomo also has a gently rocking to-and-fro motion mode for the tots amusement.

Now available from Korea for about $780.

slide12Robot Stock News has unveiled another patent from iRobot.

There are more than a dozen different designs in the patent application.  All of them are designed so you don’t have to clean out your Roomba.

Some designs would require some modifications to the Roomba, while some would work with existing Roomba models.

Would you shell out more money for a self cleaning Roomba?

Floor Wiping Robot

By Chief Robot | Filed in Household

fukitorimushi_1Panasonic has unveiled the Fukitorimushi, a floor wiping robot.

The robot cleans the floor by using an inchworm like motion and a special cleaning cloth.

It also uses blue lights to search for dirt and marks dirty spots with a red light .  When done cleaning it returns to it’s base for recharging.

I’m not sure if this robot is really competition for the Roomba or the Scooba.
