Elfoid

By Chief Robot | Filed in Humanoid

elfoidFrom the makers of Telenoid comes a smaller, pocket sized version called Elfoid.  Elfoid is actually a a pocket sized Android cell phone.  That’s right, Elfoid is a cell phone that can fit in your pocket.  This really brings new meaning to mobile communications.

Telenoid looks the same as Elfoid, only more life size. The idea behind Telenoid is that it is a remotely controlled robot and you project whomever is operating it onto the robot.

With Elfoid, you can project whomever is calling you onto the phone.

The always interesting researchers from Osaka University are teaming up with a mobile communications providers and hope to have the phone ready within five years.

Japan’s Latest Baby Robot, Babyloid

By Chief Robot | Filed in Humanoid

babyloidThis robot is the work of Kanou Masayoshi from the Chukyo University of Science & Technology in Japan.

This therapeutic robot has been designed to help the elderly feel less depressed .  The robot is about 17 inches long and the arms can wiggle.

The eyelids can also blink and the mouth can open and close. Also, the face has red LEDS implanted in it which could simulate crying or blushing. Professor Masayoshi hopes to eventually manufacture the robot for around $600 US over the next couple of years after doing more research and testing.

At least this robot is cute and does not visit the uncanny valley, like some robots do.

By Chief Robot | Filed in Humanoid

An engineer from Anybots was hungry and decided to send his QB robot out for a scone.
I love the part where someone thinks the robot is part of Google.
What impact will using robots like this have on society?
