This MAV  (Micro Air Vehicle), can take off from the ground and hover.  It can also be launched from an airplane and perform a controlled flight.

iRobot to Make Robotic Boat?

By Chief Robot | Filed in Military, Prototype, Water

iRobotBoatRobot Stock News has found a clip of a robotic boat made by iRobot.

Don’t forget that last year iRobot purchased Seaglider, an underwater AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) from the University of Washington.

They may be using some of this technology in the boat shown here.  But for what purpose?

Is this to help cops in Florida catch drug smugglers, or is it to help the Navy combat pirates?

iRobot makes an underwater mine clearer called Transphibian.  Maybe the robotic boat would be used to launch and or monitor the Transphibian or the Seaglider.

Video after the break (the boat is about 28 seconds in).
