Robot Auction

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Sparking RobotDo you like old fashioned tin or plastic robots and toys as much as we do?

Well head on over to Smith House Toys as they have a huge auction going on now from the Alan Rosen collection.  You can bid buy phone or email, but be prepared to crack open your wallets as some of this stuff is expensive.

Rosen’s reputation for paying top-dollar helped him build one of the greatest robot and space toy collections over the past
seven years.

It seems Alan Rosen’s nickname is  Mr Mint, so we assume these robots are in top notch condition.  Shown here is lot # 54, the Mechanical Mighty Robot With Sparking.  The starting bid for him is $750, but some items start under $100 for you cheapskates.  Also in the auction are more robots, space guns, ray guns, a flying saucer bank, Sputnik bank and lots of other amazing items.

The auction ends October 30.

WowWee Unveils New Robots

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

wowwee-robotsAs if to answer the call from other robot companies, WowWee has rolled out two new robots, the Roborover and the Joebot.

The Roborover is currently available at Amazon for $69.99. He sports tank like treads for rough terrain, a working headlight for dark areas and comes with two built in games called Tomb and Swamp.

Interestingly we couldn’t find Joebot available at Amazon or the other stores recommended by WowWee, but should retail for $99.99.  Joebot can be controlled via joystick or voice commands.  Joebot also comes with two modes called Battle Mode and Guard Mode and can also play Simon with you.
