Professor Erik Sanchez from the University of Portland recently had a Propeller QuadRover stolen from his unlocked car.  The robot was stolen this past Monday from the 6000 block of SW 205 Avenue.

The robot is based on a 49 cc Honda gasoline engine and is strong enough to pull a truck.

The robot was to be used as a teaching tool in one of his physics classes.

According to Oregon Live, a similar robot was also stolen from professor’s car in Aloha Hawaii.  Let’s hope we don’t see a rash of robots being stolen as someone tries to prevent the Terminator movies from becoming a reality.

What a sad day in robot land.  Too bad the robot can’t phone home. Anyone with information about the missing robot, please call Washington County Sheriff’s detectives at 503-846-2500.

See a video of the robot in action before it was stolen below.
Update 1/12/09 – The robot has been recovered!  According to KPTV it was found at the bottom of a lake.  No word if it still works.
