Creepy Robot Band
Unlike Kraftwerk who sing about robots, Rock-afire Explosion was a real animatronic/ robotic band that played in Showbiz Pizza restaurants during the 1980s. The creepy robots remind us of something you might see at a Chucky Cheese.
One man is hoping to help make the band return. Mike Garay purchased his first figure in 1998 and now has converted his garage into a full time workshop devoted to restoring 20 of these robots.
“As I’m getting older, it’s probably more weird, but I have no problem with that. It’s something that makes me me. Besides, if you had a chance to have a giant robot band, wouldn’t you?”
