Iowa State Robot Learns Like a Child

iowa-state-robotThis robot without a name has been developed by assistant professor Alexander Stoytchev and a team of students from Iowa State University.

This robot is being developed to learn like a child would.

A five point test has been developed to help the robot recognize objects.  The robot grabbed, pushed, tapped, shaked and dropped 22 different objects.  It had no previous knowledge of these objects, but could recognize each object 99% of the time after performing the 5 actions.

The robot was recently used to cut the ribbon at an opening ceremony for Iowa State University’s Electrical and Computer Engineering building.

What would you name this robot?
