Robotic Chair

take a seatThis chair called Take A Seat by Jelte van Geest is amazing. Designed for Openbare Bibliotheek Eindhoven, the chair moves on it’s own.

You swipe your RFID library card on the front of the chair. The chair then follows you around the library, waiting nearby to be sat on. When you leave and cross the line on the floor near the checkout counter the chair returns to it’s original place and recharges itself.

The chairs also have a management setting and swiping the appropriate card makes all the chairs follow you and form into seating for a lecture. I can see this feature being real handy for large offices with conference rooms and chairs that need to be moved around a lot.

The must see video is here.
