Robots in Space

DextreDextre(Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator), a two armed robot from Canada, will be going to the International Space Station.

This large dexterous robot will act as the space station’s handyman. This will allow the astronauts to perform more science experiments and do less maintenance.

The robot is approximately 3 metres tall and 2 metres wide and weighs about 1,500 kilograms.

The robot will head to space sometime in 2008 and will only be fully assembled once in space. This is because it cannot support it on weight when standing up on Earth.

We wish we had a maintenace robot to do all the chores our wife is nagging us about!
