Telecommuting With Anybots QB

QBFirst there was the robot QA and now Anybots has announced QB, a telepresence or telecommuting robot.  QB is much slimmer appearance, weighs 5 pounds more and has a longer battery life than QA.

The basic idea is to join a meeting with colleagues while you are at home or in another office through the internet and ultimately the robot QB.  The robot can freely move around and is controlled by your keyboard.  QB uses a high resolution 5-megapixel camera for you to see and a lower resolution camera pointing downward to avoid bumping into obstacles. Why bother actually going to work when a robot can do it for you?

From the press release QB has the following specs:

  • Eight hours of battery life
  • Supports 802.11g Wi-Fi
  • Five megapixel high-resolution video camera
  • 3.5 mph normal cruise speed
  • Price: $15,000
  • Availability: Fall 2010
