The small robot is about eight inches tall and has the face of a monkey.
Aimed at children ages 3 to 7, Kibot can read books, sing and play online games with the screen on its stomach.
The robot can also tilt its head and make its cheeks light up.
Parents can also remotely control the robot or monitor their children through an imbedded camera by using a cellphone.
Click past the break for a very short video of Kibot.
Students in South Korea will now learn English thanks to a cute yellow robot with a face on it called Engkey. The robots are not completely autonomous and will actually be run by qualified teachers from the Philippines. The teachers can hear the children in the classroom and react accordingly.
The three and a half foot high robot also has a white Caucasian face on top that will change as the teacher reacts to the children. I’m not sure why they would choose a Caucasian face over a Korean or other Asian face.
The robots are meant to support the existing teachers, not replace them. Yeah, right.
Japan already has robot teachers.
The robot FURO is designed to be an attractive female waitress. Your order is placed by using her touchscreen and payment is made by swiping your credit card.
I’m not sure if I like her animated cartoon face better than a real face, but it is an interesting idea.
I wonder if this approach works better than how the Hajime Restaurant uses robots?

Well Robotland in South Korea has finally secured enough funding to sketch up some cool renders of the robot theme park. The park has secured $230 million of a $600 million budget and expects to open in 2012 and break even in 2014. What does that tell you about robots?
Robotland will have a water park, Robot Aquarium where you can actually touch robotic fish, residences, shops, Robot Battle Stadium, Robot Flower Island, Robot Museum and more.
The theme park will also have some content provided by such famous robots as, Terminator, Robocop, I-Robot, Transformers, Astroboy. What the actual content is they don’t say. Probably just schwag like mugs and t-shirts, but hopefully some actual robots.
Wow, sign me up for a trip to south Korea!
The robot can dance and get emotional when not doing chores. It can also emit two kinds of fragrances based on its emotions.
I guess we will smell the doom coming when the robots finally overtake us. Video after the break.
