Harvard To Create Robo Bees

robobeeillustHarvard has been awarded $10 million from the National Science Foundation to create robotic bees.

Harvard will build upon the robotic fly it created in 2007 to create the robotic bees.

One of the hardest tasks will be to make smart sensors that mimic a bees eyes and antennae.

Beyond making the bees fly, the researchers will attempt to study and re-create some of the colony or community aspects and behaviors of the bees.

No word yet on weather the hive is a giant cube or if the robo bee colony will attempt to assimilate you, but we do know these bees won’t sting.
