Nano Air Vehicle

In 2007 DARPA commissioned Aeronvironment from California to create a nano air vehicle.  DARPA is looking for a 10 gram aircraft with a 7.5cm wingspan that can explore hiding places and relay data back to a base.

Inspired by nature, Aeronvironment has created a vehicle with flapping wings, similar to a hummingbird,  instead of using rotor blades such as for a helicopter.

Aeorenvironment is a ways off from that goal, but on target to eventually meet it.

There’s a little hummingbird that seems to live in my backyard and flies around all the time. It’s so pretty!
